Saudi Students’ Attitudes to the Use of Subtitles to Improve Their Listening Skills

The role of subtitles in improving listening skills is a controversial issue the literature second language (L2) learning. This study attempted to investigate L2 learners’ attitudes use when watching English audio-visual materials. Investigating may have implications for designing courses education organisations around world. recruited 63 Saudi third-year students from an department at university. data was collected by means closed-ended questionnaire containing 23 Likert-scale items. results indicated that most participants: a) agreed are important; b) had more positive (captions) than Arabic subtitles; c) expressed people who articles; and d) acknowledged captions greater impact on learning either or no all.
